As a business owner you know there are many ways to increase your income. Some take time while others can happen relatively fast when done correctly. One of the quickest ways to increase your profits is by branding your business. Yes, I know branding may seem time consuming and boring.

Let me be the first to tell you, creating a brand for your business can result in amazing growth. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a lot of time or money on branding your business either. I don’t know about you, but when I can quickly and easily generate more income in my business I am extremely happy. Here are five techniques to help you create a brand that will boost your business income.

Make It Personal
Your personality helps your customers connect with you. You can have the best product in the world, but without personality to back it up, you can forget about making sales. Customers want to know they are more than just dollar signs in your eyes. When they can resonate with you on a personal level, customers will be quicker to trust you. Once you have their trust, selling becomes so much easier. Think about it, if someone you know and trust recommends a product, you are more inclined to purchase it than you would be from someone you were not familiar with.

Plan Ahead
As with any aspect of business, it’s important to think long term when creating your brand. Planning and thinking things through will ensure you aren’t acting on whims. Sure it might sound good to follow a hot trend or fad, but will it last for the long haul?

Watch the Competition
There is no better way to stay one step ahead than to watch what your competitors are doing. Of course you may not always know what they’ve got up their sleeve, but keeping an eye on how your opposition is approaching things, and more importantly how it’s working, is a big key to success.

Utilize the Power of a Mentor
Some of the most successful business owners will admit that without the help of others, they would never have made it as far as they have. Don’t let fear stop you from getting help from someone with expertise in any areas you might be less knowledgeable in.

Keep Your Focus
When you make any decision in your business, keep your branding efforts in mind. If something you do does not fit well with the image you hope to portray it can do more harm than good. Staying focused will help to eliminate problems like these.

II am looking for some useful tips to help me to my very young family business, and I am glad I found yours. I do not know why you mentioned that branding seem to be time consuming and boring, but I think it’s not. Among the tips you mentioned, it is the first one that I am putting focus.

I think this is very important especially if the business is relatively new. Remember – First impression last, and my former office mates as my first customers admire me because I am putting all my personality into it.

Ive been freelance for over 9years and run several websites from custom graphic and web design, ecover design to powerpoint to member sites, PLR Graphics and a few others. indeed. since your competitor usually does his or her research as well, then it pays to piggyback off of said research, by adopting what works for your competition.

@Angel – I think branding for most is something they don’t think of as the first thing they need to do for their business. Glad to see you are putting focus into something.
