With the increase and popularity of audio and video use on the internet, some might think that the written word is becoming a thing of the past. Is the “Content Is King” mantra dead?

NO! Written content is still just as important to your business as ever. Search engines currently do not have a way to “see” the audio or video files, thus making your written words very important.

Today I’m sharing an interview with one of my friends and clients, Regina Baker, owner of WAHMCart.com. Regina is a client at Get Content Results and shares her experiences with hiring writers on her own, why some people are afraid of hiring ghostwriters, and why she credits Get Content Results with increasing the number of customers using her ecommerce services.

Enjoy!

I think you should have both written and audio tutorials, let your audience choose the format they prefer.

hi Vera,
I can’t resist giving you a hard time that a post about how important WRITTEN content is then has an AUDIO interview. I actually prefer to be able to read something online instead of listening to it, but I’m sure it would be work to convert it into writing. ~ Steve, custom portable exhibits

I completely agree Vera, I have seen blogs using only video and I think it’s a bad strategy, use video, but also have the text, first for visitors who do not want video and second for the SE’s who will not be able to read your content. I just added a podcast to my site as well, it’s another option for those who want to listen.

Every medium has its advantages but only print requires your undivided attention. You have to stop what you’re doing and read it.

I enjoy podcasts in the car. Most video I have seen aren’t video in the true sense of the word (moving pictures) but more a slide show with voice over. Of course that’s just me – I have to get my head past the traditional notion of video.

Video does have an enormous advantage when showing off software, or demo-ing a product. Nothing sells like seeing it in action. Pictures are much easier to remember.

I agree offering both written and audio would be a great idea. That way search engines can access and you can listen as an option.

Business Logos – Absolutely give your readers what THEY need. Offering both covers all bases.

Steve – LOL You’re too funny! I like both forms of content myself, depends on when I come upon it and have time to take it in which works best for me personally. And actually, converting it to writing from an audio isn’t all that difficult if you know someone who does transcription. ;) Then you could offer both in one shot.

JR – Absolutely. You have great points that are important for people to remember. It’s ultimately about your visitors, however if you don’t provide some sort of written forms of content, many of your potential customers may never find you.

Ed – Oh yes – when it’s time for demonstrating how to do something or how something works, video is definitely the way to go. It sticks better. Again, depending on when I’m actually taking the content in will determine whether I prefer to hear, watch or read it.

The Blogger Source – Hi! Absolutely agree there. Why cut your marketing efforts when you don’t have to?
