I also prefer text links for marketing affiliate products. I find it is the best way to seamlessly integrate such ads into content. Some of the more advanced linking styles are also very effective. To make the most money, it is best to test different types of links that are at your disposal. For certain niches you may find that different types of links perform much better than others.

I prefer using the text links method. Usually I will compress the URL, so it looks much cleaner, compared to standard URL.

We also generally encourage people to put up a page on their website just for “partner” or “affiliate” companies, and politely request that the partner company do the same. For example, we include a logo and brief description of each company: http://openrain.com/partners.

That’s absolutely right. Basically, there are two different kinds of websites for which we affiliate marketing using the SEO techniques. They are

1.E-commerce websites(marketing and sales)
2.other websites that provide information.

SEO is much required for informative websites. So, choose yours are put the effort.

I agree with you that most of the people ignore banner ads because it’s really very common to be seen in many blogs, so the banner must be very unique in term of design, and the most important factor will be the relevancy of the banner in the blog, this increases the click through rate of the banner as well.
