Great information and thanks for this post. I have always stayed away from PPC because I have heard of so many people losing crazy amounts of money. I also, know that those who have taken the time and spent the money to really learn to use the system are paid huge paydays.

I agree that PPC is a powerful tool to attract traffic to your website. That is if you have enough budget for it. I suggest launching an organic SEO campaign in line of PPC for better results.

Great introductory article for PPC, I'm not a newcomer to it but I think a lot of newbies will find the information valuable, there is nothing I hate more then all the bad mis-leading information surrounding the internet marketing business and since PPC is part of that business there should be more good information.

Keep up the good work.

Google AdWords is good for driving highly targeted traffic to websites and blogs. With proper cost management and keywords research, AdWords can be used for long term traffic source.

[...] For advertisers often a per click or per action method is better because you only pay when something occurs, but it really depends what the advertiser wants to do. I’ve recently told potential sponsors who approach this site that if they want to run a campaign that they look at banners as a branding tool to enhance awareness, rather than a raw traffic generating advertisement, since click through rates are often low on banners. You usually get better results using Pay-Per-Click if you want raw traffic and link campaigns for search engine optimization. [...]

[...] The problem comes when it’s time to set up new systems and start selling. Some of my important decisions have been made and lessons learnt. I’m happy with AWeber as my email autoresponder and it’s not likely I’ll be changing services any time soon. I’m happy with the companies that host my websites and I register my domains with. I have access to designers and programmers I trust if I need anything done beyond my skill-set. I know how to use Pay Per Click advertising and I’m comfortable that my search engine optimization techniques over time will lead to good results. I have the basics covered but I’m about to head into uncharted territory. [...]

[...] Use the Google keyword selector tool in AdWords. Your data from any AdWord Pay-Per-Click campaigns (see the previous part of this course on PPC advertising) is great for your SEO as well because any phrases performing well in AdWords Ads are worth targeting in your organic search marketing efforts too. If you pay for a phrase and it works well, getting it for nothing from free search traffic is even better. [...]
