Hey Dani,

I've actually been designing a few business cards and i think in the next little while i've get them printed up... any suggestions for printers? online or offline?

I'll have to post the designs up on my site for people to have a look. I want to keep it simple... one or two colors but keep it playful and simple would be the best i think. Thanks for the idea dani

I've thought about the branded candy idea... still looking as most of that stuff is crap quality. Nice little promo idea you've thought up.

Christmas on the Gold Coast eh... well i'll enjoy my snow... thank you very much :D

Luc, yeah definitely get business cards. It's too easy to forget people when they haven't got a card to give you.

Actually, with a business name like BizCandy what you could do whenever you give someone your business card is attach a piece of individually wrapped candy to it. Be rather apt for an icebreaker and memorable! As your biz grows you could even have your own special candy made up (and go all out and brand the wrappers!)

I've got a trade table at a Christmas networking function and I'm going to attach chocolate coated "lips" to my Frequent Flirter calling cards :)

Cheers, Dani

Dani,

"Insightful, thoughful and inspiring"...how absolutely awesome is that?

Thanks SOO much for the shout out! I'm glad you dig the PMP blog...it's a work in progress and so is my biz.

I hear you on the getting enough sleep, eating right and getting sick. I got sick this past summer for 4 weeks and had strep throat. I couldn't shake it!! Our bodies will find a way to keep us grounded one way or another, especially if we get too up in the clouds for our own good!!

It can be a juggle, but what else would we do? We're all a little "nutters" aren't we?

Stay passionate,
Kam:)

Hey Dani,

Understandable, writing from the heart is never the easiest but oddly enough its usually what most people can relate to. Its as if the words have a higher dollar value, spiritual value and value to human-kind.

Ah Dani... i love it when you speak 'Aussie' to me. ;) I am sure my Canadian-isms will soon come up to rear there head.... "want some bacon with that maple syrup?"

Thanks for the tips on networking. Would you say it would be good to have some business cards done up? Talk to ya soon Dani!

Hey Luc,

Thanks so much, I'm glad you liked it. Sometimes it's difficult to know if sharing your own personal experiences is going to be of interest to others and benefit them.

"Stuff up" must be an Aussie-ism. I thought that was a general English language one, but maybe not. Yes, it's a more gentle way of saying "screw up"!! Another take on the term - when something isn't working, it's "stuffed" :D ... and there endeth today's class on Australian. Next week we'll cover fair dinkum and ridgy-didge ;)

Thanks very much for your thoughts here, I enjoyed reading through them. And yeah, communication is definitely a problem in a number of arenas, and there's a lot of factors that impact on it.

As for networking Luc, get yourself out there and meet a few people face-to-face. Nothing beats it! And don't wait til your business is up and running - I made that mistake. I'd thoroughly recommend getting out there now. Especially given your business will be B2B, networking events will be a gold mine for you. If you start making contacts and friendships now, it will make the road much smoother for you when you hit the market. Your local chamber of commerce is probably an ideal place to start.

Have fun! Dani

Hello Dani,

Excellent post that i just had to respond to. I personally believe that most people who start a business do this right away... They want to be "perfect" and that can be your first downfall. While i think you've got to be on your game you've also got to allow yourself to make mistakes and learn because that is where the true rewards are and sometimes where the biggest gains can be made. I think most business is an "evolution" of sorts. Like when man losses his tail and grows thumbs... the tail that helped you get to that point is now useless and you must discard it.

I've never heard "stuff up" before but i'll assume it means something similar to "Screw Up". I've failed on numerous attempts but i learned something everytime. Corporations say that they are looking for people that are original and creative but the truth is sad to learn most times. I'll agree with you that that is no way to live though so many do... that's why us business owners need to stick together :D... Keep the water from getting tainted.

I think that communication is a big problem and i can atest to seeing the breakdowns and egos of people who just want to be "right" or "be heard" instead of putting that aside and working on the problem. Maybe people for the most part only become more receptive of this problem once its their business on the line?

If your budding enterprise has an element of “change the world” ideology, then before you set out on your noble endeavour, you need to ask yourself: am I willing to put myself on the line? Do I have the courage of my convictions to live my message? - and take all the consequences that come with that? You can’t bring a message to the world and not live it yourself. You are the message, so you need to live your ideology. And as in most things, that’s easier said than done.

I figure that i've got to spend more time talking to those "like-minded" souls once my business is up and started. I've personally never been to a networking event but i really would like to check one out, one of these days.

Again... very good post Dani!
