Good to see another new writer on SBB, christine.

I think its the times in life when people say to you that you shouldn't do something, cannot do something or are not cut out to do something that most people have one of two standard responses. Fight for what you want. Flee from what you want.

Actually in the past week i had someone tell me i could never be a recruiter. I respect the opinion but i look at it like this... people will always have opinions regardless of what you may think... the rest of the choice is yours. Basically... "How bad do you want it?"

Cheers Christine and welcome,

Gigi,
Thank you for your comment! :-) You definitely have to fight those fears! People around you generally just want the best for you, but "best" is only their perception and a reflection of their own fears (likely believe they "can't do it", therefore "you can't either"). Anyhow, it's OK if it is off-topic, I'm glad you enjoyed my first article on SmallBusinessBranding.com!

Thank you for the warm welcome, Yaro and Nick!
I'm looking forward to working with you both. Nick, you are absolutely right: people generally assume what they learn in grade 1 will be sufficient to write their marketing campaign ;-)

I echo Yaro's welcome. It's always nice to see professional writers in the blogosphere. I think writing a skill that most marketers overlook - to their detriment I might add. It's one of those things that everyone just assumes they are proficient at. Engaging and effective copy is hard to come by.

I'm glad you're on board.

your words definitely resonate with me. I've grown up in an environment where everyone tells me that i couldn't/shouldn't make marketing my career because shy and introverts are those I can relate to the most as I am an introvert. I feel really sagged and stressed because I am so afraid of ending up like they say. So thanks for your words that have moved me deep inside and I know I really have to fight back the fears and take times to rejuvenate myself. anyway, although this comment may seem a little off-topic, i just want to express my gratitude to you. .
